Spring Allergies
for Gr.
Woke by a lark and a sneeze this morning,
'twas, I suppose, in my nose a warning:
darling daughter, delicious spring breezes,
outdoorish things, mad frolics, fun wheezes
always makes fellow with pollen and sneezes.
I thought as I lay: that blast of a sneeze,
why, if I had been standing
on the landing
it would have knocked me clean to my knees!
Outside, daisies march, opening buds a'peek,
swallows dash, insects breakfast seek.
Bugs hum, prim stands the daffodil,
a sun-dazed beetle rattles on the sill
and hid in loam life warms and creatures till.
The moral of this allergical rhyme?
Lament a sneeze but love springtime.
